Protein Coffee: A Delicious & Healthy Way to Meet Your Protein Goals
This protein coffee is so easy, so delicious, and such a game-changer when it comes to meeting your morning protein goals. If getting in 30 grams of protein at breakfast feels like a struggle, you’re not alone—but this simple recipe can help you start strong without overthinking it.
We know that eating within 60 minutes of waking, especially with protein, can support metabolism, hormone balance, and help your body feel safe and nourished. And while not everyone wakes up hungry, most of us don’t skip our morning coffee—so why not make it work harder for you?
Drinking coffee on an empty stomach can be tough on your nervous system and gut, often leaving you feeling jittery or ungrounded. But when you pair it with protein, it helps balance blood sugar, stabilize your energy, and keep those mid-morning crashes at bay.
Not a fan of big breakfasts? No problem. This protein coffee is a perfect bridge—it’s light, creamy, and totally satisfying. Plus, it helps you build momentum toward your daily protein goals without needing to sit down to a full meal.
Stay tuned for the recipe below—and if you’ve been looking for a simple way to fuel your body and still enjoy your morning ritual, this one’s for you.
Enjoy this yummy treat in the morning to easily get in your protein goals and keep you energized. Enjoy hot or iced!
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
8-12 oz brewed hot coffee or ice-coffee of your choice (choose organic if possible)
1 serving protein powder (I use Equip or Truvani)
Optional (1 serving collagen powder- I like Needed, Ancient Nutrition or Live Conscious)
Dash of milk of choice (organic milk, unsweetened almond or coconut milk)
Cinnamon
Directions:
Brew hot or iced coffee.
Pour coffee into a blender with protein powder (s), cinnamon and your choice of milk.
Blend and enjoy!
***If you do iced coffee pour over ice.
Tips:
Choose an organic coffee. Coffee can have a lot of chemicals and molds. I like Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee.
I’ll be sharing a post soon on choosing a protein powder, but for now, look for one with simple ingredients and no added sugars or artificial sweeteners. While it’s tough to avoid sweeteners entirely, a little stevia or monk fruit is fine, as they come from natural plant sources, unlike chemicals like sucralose, saccharin, or aspartame.
The extra collagen protein is totally optional—but definitely worth trying if you're looking for an easy upgrade to your daily routine. Collagen is a bit different from other protein powders. It's more refined, blends beautifully into drinks like this one, and offers amazing benefits for your skin, hair, nails, and joints. Since we naturally start losing about 1% of our collagen each year after age 30, adding it in can be a simple and supportive way to promote a more youthful glow and overall joint health. Think of it as a little beauty boost in your cup!
Cinnamon is a tasty addition that helps regulate blood sugar—I add it to everything, even my morning coffee!
Enjoy and let me know what you think!
