Rejuvenating Skin Smoothie
Summer has always been my favorite season. Beach days, sunshine, fresh berries, and long evenings outside fill my soul.
But if I'm being honest, summer can also be the toughest season for my skin.
In my teens and twenties, I was a total sun worshipper. Sunscreen? Sometimes. Shade? Rarely. My goal was always to get as tan as possible. Looking back now in my late 30s, I can definitely see the effects of those years. Fine lines, sun spots, and changes in my skin have made me much more intentional about protecting it.
Do I wish I had started sooner? Of course.
But I've also learned that our health journeys unfold exactly when they're meant to. Every season teaches us something, and one of the biggest lessons nutrition has taught me is this:
Healthy, glowing skin starts from within.
As a registered dietitian, I've seen firsthand that beautiful skin isn't just about expensive creams and serums. It begins with nourishing your body every single day.
Our gut health influences how well we absorb nutrients. Chronic inflammation and oxidative stress can speed up skin aging. Around age 30, our body's natural collagen production begins to decline, making it even more important to prioritize foods that support skin structure, hydration, and repair.
One of my favorite (and easiest) ways to do that is with smoothies.
They're simple, delicious, and an effortless way to pack in collagen, protein, antioxidants, hydration, and fiber—all in one glass.
This has become one of my go-to summer smoothies because it checks every box.
Why Your Skin Will Love This Smoothie
Collagen peptides provide amino acids that support healthy skin, hair, nails, and connective tissue.
Mixed berries are rich in vitamin C and powerful antioxidants that help protect collagen from free radical damage.
Spinach delivers vitamins A, C, and E to support skin renewal and healthy detoxification.
Chia seeds provide plant-based omega-3 fats to help support hydrated, healthy skin.
Coconut water replenishes electrolytes to keep your body—and your skin—well hydrated during the summer months.
Vanilla protein powder helps stabilize blood sugar while providing the building blocks your body needs for repair and recovery.
Packed with collagen, antioxidants, hydration, and skin-loving nutrients.

My Summer Skin Routine
While nutrition is a huge piece of healthy skin, I also believe in protecting what you're nourishing.
You'll usually find me wearing a mineral sunscreen, seeking shade during peak afternoon sun, staying hydrated, and checking products through the EWG Skin Deep® database before purchasing them.
If my younger self saw me now, she'd probably laugh and ask, "Who are you?"
But honestly? I'll happily trade chasing the perfect tan for protecting my skin, preserving my health, and aging gracefully.
Because true beauty isn't just about what we put on our skin.
It's about how we nourish ourselves from the inside out.
I hope this smoothie becomes one of your favorite summer staples. Here's to glowing skin, healthy habits, plenty of hydration, and soaking up summer—safely.
